While many have searched for the Fountain of Youth for many centuries, the Greeks would have believed that achieving youth could be accomplished by a blessing from Hebe. She was said to have the power to restore youthfulness in general.
Her role in the mythology was as one who serves beverages like nectar to Olympians from during her time period. She was a faithful servant dedicated to the task that had been assigned to her. However, she was at some point down the line cast out from doing the job that she had previously had. She lost that job in a most unusual way when she tripped and her dress came undone. The other Gods were not happy about this at all and decided that they would take her role as cup-bearer away from her.
Hebe has been asked by many of the other Gods to help them out with their problems of not feeling youthful. She usually does not want to help out with that kind of thing, but the other Gods sometimes convince her that it is actually the right thing to do in certain circumstances. When they have convinced her that it is right, she will do as they say.
She has always been a popular God to do in paintings and other forms of art. People like her for her looks to be sure, but also appreciate that she has the power to make a person feel youthful. That is an important role to have in the lives of a lot of people. They believe that if they could just become youthful once again that so many of their problems would be taken away from them.
Her powers are among the most powerful in mythology. The fact that she could restore something within a person that is otherwise impossible to find is not something that is easily overlooked in history.
The other children of Zeus and Hera are Ares and Hephaestus.
